The primary business for Assiniboia is agriculture. As Assiniboia is located in the heart of the southern part of Saskatchewan, the town has the advantage of this central location. Assiniboia thrives on Agricultural activity, whether it be calving and seeding in the spring, or branding and harvest in the fall. The Assiniboia district has the benefit of two high throughput terminals handling the majority of the grain in the region; and within the town's industrial park Assiniboia boasts one of the nation's largest livestock auction yards.

Along with agriculture, Assiniboia has a manufacturing sector unlike many other communities of equal size. Assiniboia can boast the third of its kind rubber tire recycling facility in Canada, where scrap tires are turned into crumb rubber and exported internationally. This sector also ranges in variety and complexity, from grain bin construction to custom welding projects. Each enterprise offers a unique service and caters to both ag-related and non ag-related sectors.

Since Agriculture is the primary industry of the region, the industrial park caters to the Ag industry. Farm implement dealerships, grain storage sales and equipment rentals as well as the auction yards are all located within the industrial park.

Assiniboia has a population base of approximately 2700 people with two surrounding RM's adding approximately 700 more people. The town itself can take pride in its daycare centre, hospital facility, newly opened personal care and long term care facilities, community complex, year-round recreation facilities and a volunteer network like no other.
