Economic & Community Development Incentives

The Town’s Strategic Plan includes being ready to accept new sustainable Industrial, Commercial and Residential investment.  The Town of Assiniboia deems it essential to provide incentives that demonstrate the municipality’s commitment and readiness to invest in the development of this community.  The Town’s investment is outlined in this policy,  the Community Investment Incentive Policy # 150,  and includes residential, commercial & industrial tax incentives and grant funding.


The purpose of the Main Street Revitalization Grant is to promote the rehabilitation, restoration and improvement to the Central Business District. This grant is structured as a matching grant as the town will invest an amount up to 50% of eligible project expenses (up to a maximum of $5,000.)

    • Are you an owner or tenant of properties located within the Town Centre Commercial District or properties along Highway 13 corridor?
    • Are you a member of the Assiniboia & District Chamber of Commerce?
    • Is your property assessed and taxable as a commercial property? 

You may be eligible to apply for the Main Street Revitalization Grant!
Please thoroughly through all terms and conditions of the Community Investment Incentive Policy No.130 above before filling out an application for tax incentives or for the Main Street Grant.
Reminder: It is very important that no work has been done for a MS grant project prior to an approved application. 

 

 

The Town of Assiniboia’s Public Art Policy builds on the legacy of the Public Art Grant, first introduced in 2015 to mark the Shurniak Art Gallery’s 10th Anniversary. While the original grant celebrated Assiniboia’s uniqueness, sense of place, and vibrant community spirit by supporting local artists and public art experiences, the new policy expands this vision. Through intentional investment in public art—particularly within the downtown commercial district—the Town aims to enhance community pride, beautify shared spaces, and continue fostering a creative environment where art is accessible and enjoyed by all.
